Result of Evening 10 Mile TT – Thursday 5th July

A fine night with a light NW breeze, and only 20 riders faced the starter.  Conditions were good with a number of seasons bests ( and PB’s) being recorded.  Congratulations to Simon Wilson of Ribble Pro Cycling Team who lowered the course record to 19m 15s ( beating the record he set last year by over 20 seconds).

The evening was marred by an accident when Steve Whittle of Croston Velo crashed almost in sight of the finish.  He apparently hit a pothole, lost control and crashed onto the footpath. He was unconscious for 3 or 4 minutes, but apart from suffering bad abrasions to his face, arms legs and hands appears to have escaped serious injury.

Thanks to all riders and marshals, and to those who assisted Steve until the ambulance arrived.  ( Over an hour after the 999 call was made).

A report has been prepared for CTT, and the pothole will be reported to Lancashire County Council.
