Dan and Joe Cosgrove Compete at the European Junior Tour in Assen

There aren’t many places where you can race against the stars of the future but European JuniorDan and Joe Cosgrove Tour  in Assen in the Netherlands is certainly one of those events. Running for six days (from the 31st of July to the 5th of August this year) it attracts around 700 racers and has been run for 49 years. The event covers various disciplines to challenge the young riders, including road races, criterium and an individual time trail.

At this year’s event Dan and Joe were there flying the flag for Southport Cycling Club.  Overcoming some difficult windy riding conditions Dan finished 2nd overall and Joe 5th with both boys finishing 3rd in the Special Classification, White Jersey which is a considerable achievement. Their mother Clare Cosgrove commented “It was a fantastic week of racing at the highest level they have raced at, couldn’t be more proud. Thanks for all of your support SCC!”

Well done and congratulations and to both of them!
